Not-So-Little ONE

It's official, Bubbas is ONE today!

Where has the time gone??  We started off his birthday celebration last week at Disneyland!  Ema treated us (a generous gift for my birthday) to our first family trip to the Magic Kingdom.  We left Riverside at 8:30, and made really good time!

The very next day was Miles’ birthday bash here at the house.  In my wannabe-wonder-mom mind, I envisioned a James & the Giant Peach themed party… I made a paper peach, but it was so crazy.  Everyone was really sweet about the coo-coo bananas décor.  And I’m so glad that our friends and fam love us that much to not hurt my feelings.  Haha!

When it came down to it, all I cared about was that the guests were fed, and that Miles was having fun.  He got lots of hugs, kisses, gifts, and a cupcake of his own!

Today, for his actual birthday, we went over to my Mom’s for some fajitas and ice cream.  It was a fun celebration, low key and comfortable.  I wish we could’ve hung out longer, but there’s work tomorrow…

Haircuts and Strawberries

Miles got his first ever haircut this month - in preparation for the big FIRST BIRTHDAY!  I can't believe that a year has gone by already.  My how time flies.  I'm sure I'll blink and it'll all be a sweet memory.

Until then, I shall continue to commemorate and capture moments using photographs.  We went over to Nona's house after church two Sundays ago to borrow the clippers for a trim.  Here's how it turned out:

That day at lunch, Miles tried strawberries for the first time, so when we bought groceries, we made sure to pick up a few for him to eat at home.  These are the results:

Miles is a super-adventurous eater.  I love that about him.  He will try anything you give him - although there's no guarantee that he'll keep it in his mouth.  He has this funny habit of scraping his tongue with his index finger, shaped like a hook, in order to get rid of anything he doesn't want.  But then sometimes, he'll pick it up, all soggy or half-chewed, and sometimes decide that it tastes better that time!  Yuck!  He is such a joy, and just the sweetest 11.6 month old I know!

On the home front, we are working steadily on the yards - both front and back.  I've taken to the backyard - it's more manageable in my mind, probably because it's quite a bit smaller, and a bit more agreeable.  I finally planted the aloe plants Jenny gave me in the garden by the house, and started watering faithfully.  James has been working on the front yard sprinklers, and trying to keep up with the raking and weeds.  With all of the rain this weekend, hopefully the grass will grow back in, and we won't have to do too much reseeding.  


We also need to finish unpacking the 3rd bedroom - we've been here for six months, and it looks almost just like it did when we moved in here!  Yeesh - but it's coming along.  It's tough to spend free time unpacking, since we're both working, and we want to spend some of the weekend relaxing or going out.  But I am committed to finish unpacking our boxes at least a day before we leave for Disneyland with Tita Ema (Friday!  Yeah!) - that, in addition to getting the cleaning and decorating done for the party!  Woot woot!  Miles Yo will be one in just two weeks!!!!

We are gearing up for Miles' birthday, which is coming soon.  We're celebrating on the 24th, though his birthday isn't until the 29th.  I figured that my spring break is this week, so I can use this time to get the house ready for the party guests!  I can't wait to decorate - I have so many ideas... and NONE of them are from Pinterest!  (I'm excited because that means that I get to be creative, and then post my ideas here... and promoting them on Pinterest myself.  Boom!)
