Two Months Old

Miles is two months already!  Gosh, time is really flying.  We met with a former co-worker of mine, Astrid, who does professional photography on the side (how does she find the time?!) for a family photo shoot on Saturday.  It was so much fun, and a great way to celebrate Miles' 2nd monthaversary.  He was a champ through most of it.  About three quarters of the way through, he got hungry, which then caused him to be sleepy at the very end.  But James and I are thrilled with the results.

If you live in the IE and need a photographer, you should definitely contact her!

 Jus sayin', is all...

Such a fun day!  Astrid made it a point to just chat with us, allowing us to be ourselves in the pictures - and I think it definitely shows.  I never did get a chance to make his "2 months today" onesie, but I might still try to get it done this week.  I figure he won't look too much bigger.

As for me, I've recently become very convicted about The BOLD Ministry, which I started up last year, but fizzled out due to discouragement and some confusion regarding the overall vision of the ministry.  But the Holy Spirit has continued to spur me on, and to remind me why He called me to start the ministry up in the first place!  I'm rereading Forgotten God by Francis Chan, as that is what really helped to open my eyes to the needs of our community, and our responsibility as Christ's body to serve.  I would truly appreciate your prayers regarding this, as discouragement is the enemy's number one way to thwart me from moving forward again.  But God is faithful, and I need to remember 1John 3:20 when I start to hear those thing in my head, or feeling disheartened.

If our hearts condemn us, we know that
God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
1 John 3:20

Praise Him for that!!

Miles is so blessed to have so many wonderful people that love him.  Tita Lori, aka Tita Tan-and-Lovely, dropped by with Tito Chris, and cousin Carson on their way to Palm Springs last Sunday, 5/22.  Miles was wearing his cool dinosaur hoodie sweatshirt with matching pants that Ammy sent.  Carson is such a smartie.  He was finding magnetic letters on our fridge that were the same, then he would say the letter, and say, "Match!"  I'm pretty sure he's advanced for his age.  :)

So cute!

Cozy with Tita Lori

What a healthy eater!

Then, on their way back from Palm Springs, they stopped by Michelle's house, so Miles and I got to see them again!  Miles slept for this visit... except when he was eating.  Phillip and Carson got to play for a while, while Michelle, Lori, Chris, and I chatted.

The cool bubble gun that Phillip gave him

It's alway a joy to visit with family, especially as Miles is getting to be more sociable.  It's so sweet when Nanay visits with Miles in the mornings at home.  I have to try to catch a snapshot of it - he always smiles when she asks him to.  So cute!

A Day at the Park

James, Miles, and I took our first trip to the Sycamore Highland Park yesterday.  It was a beautiful afternoon, and Miles didn't mind the cool breeze.

Of course, he was cozy in his carriage...

Miles did wake up...

"Wow!  What is this place?"

"A playground!  Awww yeah!"

"I'm ready to play!"

"Mom, are you still taking pictures?"

Love this face

We did it!

Wow!  I can see so much from up here!!

"Ohhh, do we have to go?"

Ended dinner with Orange Bang! and $5 pizza

Happy Momma

It was a fabulous afternoon, and Miles must have been tuckered out because he slept for 6 hours straight last night!  Woo hoo!  I can definitely handle that much sleep all at once!

We are so blessed that I can take off this much time from work, and then have the summer months at home, too.  God's timing is so perfect.

Home Fellowship

I've got to say, I truly love our Friday night home fellowship at the Sonke's.  It's such a blessing to feel at home when we're out.  And tonight was a reminder that God is not only enough, but He is everything.  Romans 3 is so true - there is no good thing in me... not to seem pessimistic, but it's definitely true.  All good things are of the LORD, and I am so blessed to know that truth, and even more blessed to have the Holy Spirit in me to show me how true that really is!

Matthew 20 ministered to me so much tonight, recalling and resting in God's grace that is extended to all of us, each as unworthy as the next.  So many lessons to learn from the laborers in the vineyard.  But the best thing to remember from tonight is that God is just and He is so loving in ways I don't and probably won't fully understand.

**sigh**  I love scripture so much.

Miles has been coming to HF since he was about 2 weeks old, and was so social tonight!  It's definitely helped since I bought a nursing cover.  Yay for Bebe au Lait!  He was wide awake when we arrived, and Ema hung out with him while we had dinner.  I love his sweet smile (which I have yet to capture with my camera) and we love to talk.

He started talking with James first, but now Miles is getting comfortable talking to me, too.  And by talking, of course, I mean cooing - mostly "Ahh-gooo" or "aaoooOOO."  It's so fun!  His expressions crack me up, and I just want to eat him up, I love him so.

And who wouldn't?  Just look at this face!!

Other updates:
*  Miles is 21.5 inches long - 3 inches taller since birth!
*  He weighs 10 pounds!  Yeah!
*  He enjoys his mobile when the music is playing.
*  Miles found out that he can move his hands to his mouth - he doesn't have to wait for them to be put there by happenstance.
*  He has a tiny baby sense of humor - randomly giggling at things.

Daddy's Son

James got me a wonderful Mother's Day present - all of his film developed!  It was so sweet to look at pictures from James' point of view over the last month and a half.  Here's a smattering of pictures from the 5 rolls we got printed...

Other updates:
- Tita Fasha sent us two lovely presents:  a Luna Lullabye pillow (so much more accomodating than the Boppy when in the rocking chair!) and a Moby Wrap.  I love the Moby Wrap so much, and Miles must, too.  He's sound asleep in it as I type!

- Miles is becoming more and more social.  He smiles at my Mom and Nanay all the time, and he was hanging out, smiling with Daddy yesterday.

- Since about 19 days old, Miles has taken a liking to his bath.  Now it's just a matter of getting from warm bath to warm clothes a little bit faster...
